While we believe strongly in the caloric sweetener segment, we see growing demand for non-caloric sweeteners as well. The real opportunity, however, is for a zero calorie sweetener that meets very specific criteria – it should be natural, great-tasting, enable product shelf life, be able to completely substitute a caloric sweetener and be cost-effective. We do not believe that the range of non-caloric sweeteners that the market currently offers, addresses all these criteria. At Emeterra, we have been working on an answer to this. A significant amount of effort has gone into what we anticipate will be a breakthrough proprietary sweetener. Watch this space for developments.
